FAQS
FAQS — General
-
Every treatment plan begins with an aesthetic assessment, offered in person or virtually. We’ll discuss your concerns, review your goals, and determine which treatments may be best suited to your anatomy, timeline, and preferences.
-
maae Aesthetics is located at 50 National Avenue, Malvern, PA 19355, inside Sola Salons. Detailed arrival and studio instructions will be included in your appointment confirmation.
-
Yes. A reservation fee is collected when your assessment is booked and is applied toward treatment scheduled within six months. The amount required for other appointments may vary depending on the treatment selected.
-
Reservation fees are subject to our late-cancellation and no-show policy. Please review the full policy before booking for details regarding rescheduling, cancellations, and missed appointments.
-
Same-day neuromodulator treatment is often available following an in-person assessment when clinically appropriate and scheduling allows. Dermal filler, Sculptra®, microneedling, and other treatments typically require a separate appointment to allow adequate time for preparation and thoughtful treatment planning.
-
Your treatment schedule will depend on your goals, the services selected, and how your body responds. Some treatments are maintained every few months, while others are completed as a series or incorporated into a longer-term plan. Recommendations are always personalized rather than based on a standard schedule.
FAQS — BOTOX®/DYSPORT®
-
Most patients describe treatment as a series of quick pinches. Discomfort is typically mild, brief, and well tolerated.
-
Not with thoughtful dosing and placement. Treatment is tailored to your anatomy, natural movement, and preferences, with the goal of softening lines while preserving expression. You should still look like yourself, just more refreshed.
-
Both are neuromodulators made with botulinum toxin type A, but their formulations and dosing are different and cannot be compared unit for unit. The best option for you is selected based on your anatomy, treatment area, goals, and previous response to treatment.
-
Initial softening is often noticeable within a few days, with results continuing to develop over the following two weeks and sometimes beyond. Most patients enjoy their results for approximately three to four months, although this varies by product, treatment area, dosage, muscle strength, and individual metabolism.
-
There is little to no downtime, and most patients return to their usual routine immediately. Temporary redness, small bumps, tenderness, swelling, or bruising may occur at the injection sites and typically improve on their own.
-
Most patients return every three to four months, once movement gradually begins to return. Your ideal treatment schedule will depend on your goals, treatment areas, muscle strength, and how long your individual results last.
-
We do not offer elective neuromodulator treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Because safety data during these periods are limited, treatment should be postponed until afterward.
FAQS — Dermal Filler
-
Comfort is individualized based on the treatment area and your preferences. Numbing options range from topical cream and local anesthetic to regional nerve blocks for more sensitive areas. Most patients describe brief pressure, pinching, or a feeling of fullness rather than significant discomfort.
-
There is no standard number of syringes that is right for every face. The amount used is based on your anatomy, tissue quality, treatment area, and individual goals. We take a conservative, staged approach and use only what is needed to create support, balance, and refinement.
-
The goal is never to change the character of your face. Filler is placed with precision and restraint to restore support, soften shadows, and refine facial proportions. Once any initial swelling settles, the result should feel balanced, natural, and entirely your own.
-
Longevity varies based on the product selected, treatment area, amount used, facial movement, and individual metabolism. Depending on these factors, hyaluronic acid filler may last anywhere from approximately six months to two years.
-
Mild swelling, tenderness, redness, or bruising may occur following treatment. Most patients return to their usual routine quickly, although swelling can be more noticeable in areas such as the lips and undereyes. We recommend allowing at least two weeks before an important event so the area has time to settle.
-
High-frequency ultrasound is available when clinically appropriate. It may be used to evaluate facial anatomy, identify the location of previously placed filler, or provide additional information during treatment planning and management. It complements a detailed anatomical assessment and careful injection technique.
-
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be reduced or dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase when clinically appropriate. Dissolving is still a medical treatment, so the area is carefully assessed first and correction may be approached gradually.
-
We do not offer elective dermal filler treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding because its safety has not been established during these periods.
FAQS — SCULPTRA®
-
Traditional hyaluronic acid filler creates immediate volume in a specific area. Sculptra® works more gradually by stimulating your body’s own collagen production, helping restore broader support, firmness, and skin quality over time.
-
Most patients benefit from two to three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Your treatment plan will be personalized based on your anatomy, degree of collagen loss, and long-term goals.
-
Sculptra® results develop gradually rather than appearing immediately. Early improvement may become noticeable within the first month, with continued changes over the following weeks and months as new collagen develops.
-
Results may last up to two years, although longevity varies from patient to patient. Maintaining your results over time may involve additional treatment based on your goals and how your body responds.
-
There is typically minimal downtime. Temporary swelling, tenderness, redness, or bruising may occur and generally improves over the following several days. Any fullness immediately after treatment is temporary and should not be mistaken for the final result.
-
Most patients describe brief pinching, pressure, or tenderness during treatment. Comfort measures are incorporated throughout the appointment and tailored to the areas being treated.
-
We do not offer elective Sculptra® treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding because its safety has not been established during these periods.
FAQS — PRF EZ Gel® and EZ PRF®
-
Both treatments are prepared from your own blood, but they serve slightly different purposes. PRF EZ Gel® has a soft, gel-like consistency that provides gentle support in areas of hollowing. EZ PRF® is lighter and is used primarily to improve fine lines, crepiness, and overall tissue quality. The most appropriate option is selected based on your anatomy and goals, and the two may sometimes be used together.
-
Not in every case. PRF-based treatments create gradual, subtle improvement and do not provide the same immediate or predictable volume as hyaluronic acid filler. They may be a good option when skin quality, early hollowing, or fine lines are the primary concerns. In some patients, PRF and filler may be incorporated into the same long-term treatment plan.
-
A series of treatments is commonly recommended, often beginning with three sessions spaced several weeks apart. Some patients may benefit from additional sessions depending on their anatomy, tissue quality, treatment goals, and response. Your plan will be personalized rather than based on a standard number of appointments.
-
Results develop gradually as the treated tissue responds over the following weeks and months. Improvement is not permanent, and longevity varies from patient to patient. Maintenance treatments may be recommended based on how your skin responds and how you would like to preserve your results over time. Current research supports gradual improvements in periorbital skin quality, although the exact duration remains variable.
-
It depends on what is causing them. PRF may help when darkness is related to thin skin, hollowing, or shadows beneath the eyes. Dark circles caused primarily by pigmentation or visible blood vessels may require a different treatment approach. Your assessment helps determine which factors are contributing to your concerns.
-
Most patients experience the blood draw along with brief pressure, pinching, or tenderness during treatment. Topical numbing and other comfort measures are used as appropriate to make the appointment as comfortable as possible.
-
Swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising may occur after treatment. Because the undereye tissue is delicate, swelling can remain noticeable for several days and may take longer to fully settle in some patients. Scheduling at least two weeks before an important event is recommended.
-
We do not offer elective PRF EZ Gel® or EZ PRF® treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
FAQS — SkinPen® Microneedling
-
Both options begin with a customized SkinPen® microneedling treatment. Standard microneedling relies on the skin’s natural remodeling response. The enhanced option includes ariessence pure PDGF+®, which is applied topically after microneedling is complete to support post-treatment recovery and enhance the overall rejuvenation process. It does not require a blood draw.
-
Topical numbing cream is applied before treatment to keep you comfortable. Most patients describe light pressure, vibration, or a mild prickling sensation rather than significant discomfort. Treatment intensity is adjusted based on the area being treated and your individual comfort.
-
Redness, warmth, tightness, and sensitivity similar to a mild sunburn are expected for the first day or two. Mild dryness or flaking may continue for several days, but most patients feel comfortable returning to their usual routine within approximately 24 hours.
-
A personalized series is usually recommended rather than a single treatment. Many patients begin with three sessions spaced approximately four weeks apart, although deeper scarring or more advanced texture concerns may benefit from additional treatments. Your plan will be tailored to your skin and goals.
-
Early improvement in radiance and texture may become noticeable within the first few weeks. Collagen remodeling continues gradually, so the skin can become smoother and more refined over the months that follow. Results tend to build with each treatment in the series.
-
SkinPen® can be used across all skin types and tones. Treatment depth and intensity are customized to your skin, and an assessment is performed beforehand to make sure microneedling is appropriate based on your current skin condition and concerns.
-
We do not offer elective SkinPen® microneedling during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
